vLEI Auth Platform Update: The 'Valid' Screen Now Has KERIA-Backed Evidence

A few days ago, the part I was not proud of was the verdict itself. For the staged credential flow, the 'valid' screen was a fixture, a placeholder so I could build around the hard part. This week I pulled the fixture out: that verdict now comes from a KERIA-backed verifier path.

A quick follow-up to the vLEI Auth Platform.

A few days ago, there was one screen I was not proud of.

It said the credential is valid. It looked like verification. But underneath, for the reference flow, that verdict was a fixture: a placeholder I used so I could build the rest of the demo around the hard part before the hard part was ready.

This week I pulled that fixture out.

For staged credential material, "valid" now comes from the app's KERIA-backed verifier path.

The hosted demo is Postgres-backed and configured in KERI-native mode. The latest smoke run reported database OK and KERIA OK, and returned:

- verification method: KERIA
- status: valid
- credential present
- operation: done

Same screen, different truth underneath.

That is the line I care about. Not whether the UI can draw a green checkmark, because any app can do that. The question is whether there is evidence behind the verdict.

And that matters beyond this demo, because identity work too often stops at login.

In payments and reference-data operations, the real control point comes later, right before something moves:

- who is acting
- what authority they have
- which policy applies
- what verdict was reached
- what evidence is left behind

identity -> authority -> policy -> verdict -> evidence

Not as a PDF after the fact. As middleware in the operation.

Now the honest part, because scope matters.

This is still a hosted demo. The payment workflow is still a reference scenario. I am not claiming a production verifier, QVI or GLEIF issuer authority, live payment decisioning, or compliance readiness.

The change is narrow on purpose: the staged verifier path now has KERIA-backed evidence behind it.

If you work in identity, KERI, or payments infrastructure, come break it.
